Washington D.C is known for its plethora of majestic monuments, open natural areas and historical attractions that draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the area each year.  The Washington D.C area also has amazing trails just outside the city that warrant exploring.  The trails below are for all explorers so whether a rock scramble playground or a forested wonderland these trails are ready to make memories.
Billy Goat

TELL ME MORE: Like Rock Scrambles? Then pick me , I will have you boulder hopping, climbing a rock wall all the whiles giving you a gorge sized view of the Potomac. The trail is extremely popular and warrants caution during weekend periods as much as it does during wet weather.

Difficult Run

TELL ME MORE: short , sweet and to the point. this trail feeds into great falls national park but you will know it from its waterfalls, perch views of the canyon and ability to sunbath on the rocks in the middle of the river.

Burke Lake

TELL ME MORE: A 3.5 mile loop to explore the shores of Burke Lake including areas to camp, fish, rent a row boat or just lay out in the open grassy areas. Burke Lake has a little but of everything to fill your day.

River Trail
​​Location: Great Falls National Park, VA

TELL ME MORE:  Within Great Falls National Park sits this little gem that gets you a perch view of the Potomac. Sit atop these beautiful cliffs filled with rolling pines to enjoy a hike , a lunch or just to snap photos.

Turkey Run

TELL ME MORE: Inside the beltway but away from the hustle bustle sits Turkey Run.  This park boasts big trees, small waterfalls, linkage to the Potomac Heritage Trail and a ground floor view of the Potomac River.  This trail is quick, pain free and fun for a lunch break or a day hike.

Prince William National Park
​Location: Woodbridge, VA

TELL ME MORE: Lush forest trails with towering trees offers a little bit of everything from waterfalls to meadows to rolling hills. This park has trails for all ages.
