The one that everyone talks about, hangs their hat on and consider a hikers paradise. the iconic old rag mountain. famously known for its multiple false summits and rock scramble playground is the worst keep secret but the best fun around.

5 THINGS TO KNOW: 
  1. An 8.9 mile trail rated very strenuous,
  2. Requires a national park pass or expect to pay the SNP entrance fee
  3. The trail is very popular! go on weekdays or very early on weekends
  4. New improved parking lot at trailhead
  5. Be bear aware.

THE WHY: it's late in the afternoon , your body aches from a great adventure. it's time to kick back in a quiet courtyard tucked away under a large multi century tree and wet your lips at this flavorful stop. welcome to Indulgence at Hopkins Ordinary, a bed & breakfast and a brewery!

5 THINGS TO KNOW: 
  1. Make their beer on site.
  2. Use local resources to make their one barrel brew
  3. Available for carryout
  4. Highly recommend (if avail) :   end of the trail pale ale 
  5. Social distancing is practiced, outdoor seating only.

Five adds to your Sperryville, Virginia trip

  1. Hike: bucks hollow  A gloriously challenging hike that loops up to skyline drive and then down through mature forest canopy and multiple small waterfalls.
  2. Waterfalls :  white oak canyon about 20 mins outside Sperryville. Whats not to love about an 86 ft waterfall that you can swim under.
  3. Stroll:  Sperryville river district sits a stones throw from the town center. come find antiques, copper fox distillery (hi there, creek side seating) as well as local artisans.
  4. ​Skyline Drive : four miles from Sperryville is the entrance (Thornton Gap) to shenandoah national park. the drive goes for over 80 miles end to end between Front Royal and Charlottesville. Skyline Drive is world famous for its views of the below piedmont and access to many hikes, camping and wonderful natural areas.
