The area is best known and advertised for the Natural Bridge State Park with its natural rock formation and walk through time trail. However, the area offers plenty of activities and destinations for a day or weekend trip

THE WHY: This hike is for the adventurer. See millions of years ago tiny insects made homes in the mountains porous rocks. Then over time so did ice, cold and erosion to which eventually was to much for the mountain line and it collapsed. What was left are car sized and refrigerator sized boulders to scamper and roam on.

THE WHY: A 180 acre zoon, with a twist! The Virginia Safari is a drive thru park where visitors are immersed within the habitats of the animals,

- The three mile drive allows you to enjoy the zoo up close and personal with the animals as they wander about and come to your car window!
- Purchase tickets online and in advance
- Don't forget to buy some feed! It makes you popular with the animals.
- Go early or go late, animals are much more active during these times instead of mid-day.
- Don't forget to stop and visit the other animals in a standard zoo setting just aside of the entrance.
