The Experience

You will love A nice day hike without all the fuss, this hike specializes in strolling.
You need to know Waterfall, water features, dense forest , good for all fitness levels and ages.

The Hollow Brook hike saddles up with the Appalachian Trail for 3.9 miles of out and back strolling. The trail is perfect for all ages and fitness levels including your four-legged friends. The parking lot is best served by cars, SUVs and trucks with clearance as the parking lot is an area of rutted dirt along power lines. There is no trail sign at the parking lot but look for the white blaze and start your mild ascent. The trail is easy to navigate (white blaze), well maintained and is composed of dirt, small rocks and several water features. The hollow brook waterfall stands out as the pinnacle of the hike, it’s a mandatory crossing to continue on the trail. The waterfall (.8 mile) is the perfect lunch spot with plenty of rocks to sit, lay or explore. Throughout the hike its wise to be mindful that the hike is prone to muddy terrain or additional puddle crossings during rainy periods. from the waterfall onward. The hike slowly and without much loss of breath works its way up to the summit of buzzard hill. fun FACT: at 1.3 look for the “1000” mile marker of the Appalachian Trail set in stones on the side of the trail. Back to our summit, full disclosure that the buzzard hill summit lacks in amazement as much of the view is blocked by trees. However, what it does have is a primitive camp site worth an overnight stay. to return to your car, retrace your steps.
