What’s to like about the trail: The shortest of the Triple Crown hikes, with a unique summit and a METAL trail Ladder. Why go for a hike on this trail: Hardy Forest, rock scrambling de jour, more and the centerpiece.... the dragons tooth (spire). Best time to go for a hike on this trail: A year-round hike that’s optimal in Spring and Fall. Summary The Dragons tooth is the last leg of the Triple Crown. If you do this trail as a standalone, then know this little four miler is a power punching single-track and rock scrambling upon rock scrambling dynamo. (heck they even have warning signs for the scrambles). Here’s what you will love: the rocks are a blast, they have ladder rungs built in for help and the view is saved for the top. Oh, about that top… it has a 30 ft spire. What do you do with a spire? You climb it of course. Roll to the backside of the spire to SPIDER MAN your way up and toast the 360 view. This trail is not for kids under 10 nor dogs. To return to your car, retrace your steps. |
