What’s to like about the trail: Waterfall upon waterfall upon more waterfalls. Call it a plethora! Why go for a hike on this trail: Family friendly, likeable short distance banger with plenty of photo ops Best time to go for a hike on this trail: Spring and Fall Summary This trail is not a well-kept secret, however it’s worth the crowd. If you google Crabtree Falls you will get a response of “highest waterfall east of the Mississippi” however that cheats you out of what this trail really is (and no it’s not the highest waterfall either, so double cheat) . It’s a well maintained (tip of the cap to you Forest Service), single-track that snakes up the mountain alongside the multiple sections of Crabtree. The trail is heavy on the forest canopy with a manageable incline that doesn’t feel harsh on the lungs or limbs but rather is a consistent grade up the mountain. The trail is often serenaded with peaceful sounds of Crabtree flowing down over the boulders and ledges. The trail does come with a bevy of warnings, as many seeking likes on their social media have put themselves in harms way to get that killer look at me everyone I am hanging over a waterfall! capture, only to be injured or worse. That warning aside, this is a great day trip one for the family and pets. Hike On! |
