Just a step outside the suburban sprawl of Northern Virginia, nestled within wine country sits Bluemont. An area ripe (pun intended) with activities from wineries & Breweries , to kid friendly farms, to quality hiking trails.

Hike Ravens Rock

The Why: A 5.7 mile excursion across the state line. This single-track trail slithers within the Appalachian trail showcasing the established forest landscape, babbling brooks and providing your adventurer lungs and hamstrings with a ascent/ descent rinse and repeat workout.

5 Things to know: 
  1. Trail is rated difficult & recommended for kids 8+  and pets.
  2. Sits on the eastern tip of snickers gap of the Blue Ridge Mountains & crosses the border into West Virginia!
  3. The trail is very popular! go on weekdays or very early on weekends
  4. Can tandem this hike with Bears Den Overlook or Sam Moore Shelter
  5. Additional parking found across route 7

THE WHY: A 400 ACRE farm at the base of the blue ridge mountains. the farm offers a variety of activities surrounded by gorgeous views. the farm is a two time "agrobusiness of the year" award winner.

The Why: time to take a moment to be grateful for your day in Bluemont and enjoy the big boy views from dirt farm. sure the driveway is for your lower gear but the beer and views are worth it.

5 Things to know: 
  1. Just across the street from great country farms.
  2. Bring a picnic and a blanket and kick out on all that green space.
  3. They do serve food!
  4. Outdoor seating has epic views!

Five adds to your Bluemont, Virginia trip

  1. Hike: BEARS DEN OVERLOOK -  1.9 mile hike perfect for kids and sunsets. 
  2. Grub : MAGNOLIA ON THE MILL  (Purcellville) - at the end of the WO& D bike trail, Americana food and burgers delish. 
  3. Bike: W&OD - Hop on the 45 mile famous local bike trail at it's end in Purcellville and ride south to Washington D.C 
  4. Brewery: BEAR CHASE BREWERY -  Sitting just a stones throw from Bears Den this brewery gets a tip of the cap for its views (elevation nearly 1,000 ft) and solid brews. 
  5. ​Wineries : Yes, the area has Snickers Gap wine cluster of five distinct wineries, all ready to pour.
