What’s to like about the trail: Its only available in the spring (mid -late April to early May), its great for kids and families. This hike shows off the impressive spring bloom along with forest canopy and a meandering creek to explore. Why go for a hike on this trail: Perfect introduction and warm up for kids to the outdoors. Best time to go for a hike on this trail: Spring Summary Bull Run Regional Park is free to Fairfax County residents, or a small entrance free for neighboring counties. The trail is a very well maintained single track but with any rain can easily become muddy. The trail and forest floor will be inundated with 25 different varieties of bluebell flowers far and wide so bring the camera! This trail is perfect for your child’s introduction to nature because its short hiking distance, flat terrain, great visuals and a creek to toss rocks into. The trail head is found towards the back of the park, as you drive follow signs to the Atlantis Water Park. The trail sits across the road from the water park parking lot.
