What’s to like about the trail: Kid and pet friendly. The short duration and lack of ascent makes this a fun stretch your leg hike. Best time to go for a hike on this trail: All seasons but avoid wet conditions. Summary This is a perfect hike for kids of all ages or bring your best fury friend. Everyone will like the short distance and the lack of an ascent. The trail is very easily navigated, it is made up of dirt, roots and occasionally small rocks that is until you hit the boulder field. Fun fact: The Blackrock summit was once an ancient sea bed that pre-dates the Appalachian Mountains. The summit for this hike are the remnants of the ancient sea bed. The boulders range in size from cooler size to automobile size and its shows itself in a wide open area to allow for perfect views of the valley and rolling mountains. Have fun climbing and playing on the rocks but be mindful of weather conditions and the age of your explorer. |
