The Experience

You will love:  Short and Sweet. You are new to rock scrambles. This is a good place to play around and work up a sweat. Combo this hike with a few others nearby for a fun day.
You need to know:
  • Fee required for access to park.
  • Trail parking lot mile marker 56.4 on Skyline Drive.

What a find! this little-known secret is a fun day hike. It’s only 2.2 m round trip but has the ability for a few sweat drops. The well-marked trail is across the street (Skyline Drive) from the parking lot, once into the woods stay to the left and hike through thicket of trees towards the first set of rock outcrops. Remember with rock scrambles to go at your pace, mind your footing and hand holds and have fun. This hike will bring you out to a rock outcrop with a great view of the shenandoah valley and virginia piedmont. the outcrop slowly cascades back into the forest and the trail completes its loop back at skyline drive. If you are day tripping into the park, this is a great hike to pair with a few others for a truly quality day on the trails.
